CGC Volleyball Premier League reaches grand finale as teams finish strong in Abuja

The first phase of the third edition of the CGC Volleyball Premier League comes to a close on Saturday in Abuja after an action-packed Day 12 produced a series of commanding victories and a handful of thrilling encounters across the men's and women's competitions.

Several title contenders maintained their impressive form heading into the final day, with dominant straight-set victories highlighting the quality on display throughout the championship.

In the women's category, NSCDC continued their fine run with a comfortable 3-0 (25-15, 25-11, 25-14) victory over Benue Queens, while CNS Spikers brushed aside Lifecamp VC in equally convincing fashion, winning 25-14, 25-18, 25-12.

NAF Rockets also secured maximum points after defeating Anambra Queens 3-0, although they were made to work in the opening set before sealing the contest 25-23, 25-17, 25-17.

COAS Spikers produced one of the day's most dominant performances, overwhelming Olalomi Royal Angels 25-10, 25-9, 25-22 to underline their credentials ahead of the conclusion of the first phase.

Nigeria Customs Service were equally ruthless, defeating Excelsior VC 25-13, 25-10, 25-13 in another straight-set triumph.

The only women's fixture to go the distance saw Fire Service edge Kada Emeralds 3-2 in a fiercely contested battle.

After sharing the opening four sets, Fire Service held their nerve to claim the decisive fifth set 15-10.

In the men's division, Nigeria Customs Service eased past Offa VC 3-0 with scores of 25-15, 25-15 and 25-22.

The match of the day came between Nigeria Police Force and CNS Spikers, where CNS fought back from two sets to one down to snatch a dramatic 3-2 victory.

After dropping the second and third sets, CNS dominated the fourth before cruising through the decider 15-7.

Kano Pillars maintained their momentum with a straight-set win over Ajase Ipo, taking the match 25-19, 25-21, 25-23.

Nigeria Correctional Service also enjoyed a successful outing, defeating Sunshine Spikers 25-23, 25-19, 25-12.

NSCDC wrapped up an impressive performance against Life Camp Volleyball Club, winning 25-20, 25-18, 29-27, while Defence Spikers overcame UCEM VC 3-1 after recovering from a second-set setback.

With the first phase of the league concluding on Saturday, attention now turns to the final round of matches as teams battle to finish on a high and strengthen their positions ahead of the next stage of the 2026 CGC Volleyball Premier League season.
