Jordan Nwora Basketball Camp inspires young female starlet MJ

The curtains came down on the sixth edition of the Jordan Nwora Basketball Camp at the Warriors Basketball Court, Ilupeju, Lagos, after three days of intensive training, mentorship and competition.

The camp, which attracted over 200 young basketball talents from across Nigeria, provided participants with a unique platform to learn, improve their skills and showcase their abilities under the guidance of experienced coaches and mentors.

Among the standout participants was Ogun State's promising young basketball player, Mojoyinoluwa Mash, who comes from a rich basketball background and has already begun making her mark on the court.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with FIRST ZEALMEDIACAST BLOG's Oluwatobiloba Zeal-Adepetu Kumoye, Mojoyinoluwa described the camp as a rare opportunity to learn, compete and elevate her understanding of the game she loves.

"It is a great opportunity to be here. I love being here because I get to see and play with a lot of people I know," she said.

"This camp has given us many opportunities, especially as ladies, to interact with the guys and understand that we are all given equal opportunities to play the game we love."

Affectionately known as "MJ" by family and friends, the young baller revealed that the camp offered far more than basketball drills and tactical lessons.

According to her, the experience helped build important life values that will continue to shape her career both on and off the court.

“This camp has been really exciting. I learned a lot about determination and skill acquisition. Beyond that, it taught me discipline, courage, confidence and the importance of staying determined as a basketball player," she explained.

Looking ahead, MJ expressed confidence that the camp would continue to grow and impact even more young athletes in the years to come.

She also reserved special praise for the President of FIBA Africa Zone 3, retired Colonel Sam Ahmedu, and renowned coach Alex Nwora, whom she described as the driving forces behind the camp's success.

"I believe the next edition of this camp will be even better. A big shout-out to retired Colonel Sam Ahmedu and Alex Nwora for giving us this opportunity. As female players, many of us do not always get opportunities like this. The fact that they continue to create these platforms for us means we must make the most of them and never take them for granted," she added.

For MJ, however, her greatest source of inspiration remains her mother, Coach Taye Adeniyi, an Afrobasket champion and Head Coach of Royal Aces Basketball Club.

"My mum has been my pillar and source of strength. Having her here, both as a coach and as my mother, makes this experience even more special. I am truly enjoying every moment of it," she concluded.

The Jordan Nwora Basketball Camp has continued to establish itself as one of Nigeria's leading youth basketball development programmes, providing young athletes with opportunities to refine their skills, gain exposure and pursue their dreams in the sport.
