Nigeria's men's volleyball team continued its impressive campaign at the 2026 African Nations Cup Zone 3 Qualifiers with a commanding 3-0 victory over hosts Côte d'Ivoire on Wednesday, securing their second consecutive win of the tournament.

The Nigerians produced a disciplined and dominant performance to silence the home crowd, claiming the match in straight sets, 25-16, 25-20, 25-19.

The victory keeps Nigeria's unbeaten run intact and further strengthens the team's quest for qualification.

Head coach Taiwo Oladipupo praised his players for their composure and determination against the host nation, describing the result as a significant achievement.

"I'm very, very happy. Beating the host nation is never an easy task, especially in front of their home fans. But we showed that we are capable of doing it, and we proved it on the court with a convincing victory," Oladipupo said.

The coach also attributed the team's impressive start to faith and unity.

"First of all, we thank God for everything. Our success is not just about strength or power. We believe that when God is on your side, there's no reason to be afraid. That's the spirit we've carried into every match, and by God's grace, we'll keep winning," he added.

Nigeria will now shift attention to Thursday's crucial encounter against the Benin Republic, with another victory expected to boost their qualification hopes.

Oladipupo expressed confidence that his side will maintain their winning momentum while acknowledging the challenge ahead.

"Watch out for our next match. We respect every opponent, but we're confident in our team. Our objective is clear, we'll go out there to win for our country," he said.

With two wins from two matches and dropping only one set so far in the competition, Nigeria has emerged as one of the standout teams in the Zone 3 qualifiers, sending a strong message to the rest of the field.
